After an announcement in recent days that he was reopening the email probe into Hillary Clinton based on 650,000 new emails, FBI chief James Comey announced just hours ago that once more, he will not recommend any charges against the most investigated presidential nominee in U.S. history.
As reported by the Daily Mail and several other news agencies, Comey said in a letter to Congress that FBI agents worked “around the clock” to review the massive amounts of emails that were discovered about a month ago on a computer used jointly by disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner and his estranged wife, Huma Abedin, Clinton’s closest aide.
Weiner is being investigated by the FBI and the NYPD for allegedly sexting a 15-year-old girl.
“Since my letter, the FBI investigative team has been working around the clock to process and review a large volume of emails from a device obtained in connection with an unrelated criminal investigation,” Comey wrote.
He added that during the process agents reviewed all communications from or to Clinton during her tenure as secretary of state. “Based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July with respect to Secretary Clinton,” he concluded.
Voters will have the final say
The news was not well-received by the campaign of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. During a campaign appearance on a marathon day Sunday, Trump said Clinton was being protected by a “rigged” political system.
There is no question he is right.
Earlier reports noted that scores of emails on the Abedin-Weiner computer showed criminal activity by Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as some congressional Democrats. The Clintons’ activities were allegedly marked mostly by pay-for-play schemes – soliciting financial contributions from foreign governments in exchange for special access and favors from the Obama administration.
In addition, said the founder of private security firm Blackwater, Eric Prince, in an interview with Breitbart Daily News, ranking members and investigators of the NYPD have threatened to make the evidence that they, too, have discovered public if the Obama Justice Department and the FBI failed to pursue strong leads and make arrests.
Apparently, Comey has decided that’s not going to happen.
It’s not clear at this point where the investigation by the NYPD will go or whether the department will do as Prince says sources inside have told him it will do – or if Clinton just skates once again for what many believe is obvious criminality.
Either way, Americans have an opportunity to hold her – and Comey, and Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and Barack Obama – accountable on Election Day, by choosing the one candidate, Trump, who has pledged to “drain” the Washington, D.C., swamp.
